Enrichment Development Specialist Job Description:

The Enrichment Development Specialist is responsible for all aspects of a community enrichment program offered through Marshwood Adult & Community Education. Duties include planning, coordinating, overseeing the provision/implementation and evaluation of programs, classes, and events offering lifelong learning opportunities of interest to the residents of South Berwick and Eliot, Maine.

Experience with customer service, community outreach, and marketing is preferred. Enrichment Development Specialist Job Description: The Enrichment Development Specialist is responsible for all aspects of a community enrichment program offered through Marshwood Adult & Community Education. Duties include planning, coordinating, overseeing the provision/implementation and evaluation of programs, classes, and events offering lifelong learning opportunities of interest to the residents of South Berwick and Eliot, Maine. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Create, plan and secure enrichment classes for the fall and winter/spring semesters each year. 2. Reach out to community members to identify classes, events and programs of interest. 3. Provide a positive customer service experience for community members while responding to questions and concerns. 4. Screen, interview, and recommend instructors/presenters. 5. Oversee and work directly with instructors on all aspects of teaching for MACE (ex. classes to offer, reimbursement, mandatory paperwork, writing course descriptions, pricing courses). 6. Determine, schedule, and arrange for the proper set-up of course locations, as necessary. 7. Update website, social media, and marketing pertaining to MACE’s enrichment program. 8. Assume responsibility for creating enrichment content for brochures. 9. Meet marketing and brochure-related deadlines. 10. Manage the distribution of brochures into the community. 11. Partner with local groups (ex. libraries, senior center, town) to mutually offer and/or advertise programming. 12. Work closely with Adult Education staff to ensure classes and the number of are recorded into appropriate databases for reporting purposes. 13. Performs other related tasks as needed. 14. May carry out additional assignments as assigned by the Director of Adult Education. Position Requirements: 1. Excellent communication and listening skills 2. Able to interact positively with people from varied backgrounds (ex. educational, cultural, socioeconomic) 3. Possesses general office skills competencies (ex. use of technology, operating office equipment, customer service, understanding/proficiency in social media platforms) 4. Understands complex, multi-step written and oral instructions 5. Uses data, facts, and circumstances to analyze, interpret and make decisions about enrichment programming 6. Ability to upgrade skills based on ever-changing job conditions Sample Week for Enrichment Development Specialist Weekly activities may include: ● Check in with Adult Education Team Coordinator o Receive information (ex. messages, questions from participants or instructors) o Share data (ex. enrollment information, class changes, instructor needs) ● Work on next brochure and semester classes o Research potential classes o Contact potential instructors o Work with instructors to create enticing class descriptions o Create calendar of enrichment courses o Collaborate with brochure designer (currently outsourced) ● Market upcoming classes, programs and events o Update social media o Write articles for Weekly Sentinel o Work with Adult Education Team Coordinator to develop ads for local papers o Distribute brochures ● Discuss adult education trends, policies and opportunities with the Director Typical evening duties may include: ● Check Enrichment Notebook for last minute information ● Determine what classes are running and where they are located ● Unlock and prepare rooms for the evening’s classes ● Advise fellow evening staff of any changes to the evening’s schedule ● Coordinate with evening staff to complete the following tasks: o Ensure all enrichment learners are greeted and directed to their classes for the first two evenings of a new class o Collect attendance and call any missing learners to remind them of the class o Check on classes ▪ Respond to needs, questions and/or comments ▪ Take photos for the brochure o Call next evening’s class learners to remind them of class, time and any material fees paid to their instructor o Revisit classes at the end of the evening ▪ Respond to needs, questions and/or comments ▪ Take photos of final products (if applicable) o Return rooms to their original state and lock them ● Update social media and/or work on marketing ● Research potential classes and initiate contact with potential instructors Sample Annual Schedule for Enrichment Development Specialist July / August: 0-10 hours ● Edit / finalize brochure for printing September: 40-50 hours ● Average 4-5 hours each night on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (open for enrichment classes) ● Start securing classes for next semester ● Distribute brochures to local businesses, agencies and organizations October: 45-60 hours ● Average 4-5 hours each night on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (open for enrichment classes) ● May work one 8-hour Enrichment Saturday ● Continue securing classes for next semester ● Brochure work November / December 35 -50 hours ● Average 4-5 hours each night on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (open for enrichment classes) ● Finalize classes for next semester ● Finalize brochure for printing January / February 10-20 hours ● Distribute brochures to local businesses, agencies and organizations ● Average 4-5 hours each night on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (open for enrichment classes) March: 40- 60 hours ● Average 4-5 hours each night on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (open for enrichment classes) ● May work one 8-hour Enrichment Saturday ● Continue securing classes for next semester ● Brochure work April: 30-60 hours ● Average 4-5 hours each night on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (open for enrichment classes) ● Continue securing classes for next semester ● Brochure work May: 40-60 hours ● Average 4-5 hours each night on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings (open for enrichment classes) ● Finalize classes for next semester ● Brochure work June: 0-20 hours ● Beginning of month: finalize brochure for printing 01/7/2020
