Softball: Biddeford 9 Marshwood 7 SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Kim Hussey had three hits and four RBIs for Marshwood (2-4) in this Western Maine Class A game. Kaylah Abdul had three hits and two RBIs for the Hawks, while teammate Hailey Tarr had three hits.

Baseball: Portland 5 Marshwood 4 PORTLAND, Maine — The Hawks led 3-0 until the fourth inning but fell to 3-2 in Class A with this loss to Portland (3-2). Portland took the lead with a three-run double in the fifth. Marshwood got one run back in the sixth but could not get any closer. Noah McDaniel (double, two RBIs) and CJ Davis (double, RBI) paced the Hawks offense.

Girls tennis: Marshwood 4 Massabesic 1 WATERBORO, Maine — No. 1 Sage Winter, No. 2 Sophie Syrene and No. 3 Jenna Gilbert won their singles matches in straight sets in leading Marshwood (2-3) to this Class A victory. In doubles, the Hawks’ No. 1 team of Sophie Towle and Sabrina Lizotte won in straight sets.

Boys tennis: Marshwood 4 Massabesic 1 WATERBORO, Maine — The Hawks got singles wins from No. 1 Calvin Butler (6-2, 6-2) and No. 2 Riley Burke (6-0, 4-6, 6-3) to improve to 2-2 in Class A. Massabesic fell to 1-3. Marshwood’s No. 1 doubles team of Darren LaPointe and Max Parker won 6-1, 6-0. The No. 2 team of Dan Longtin and Andrew Blunt won 6-7 (5), 6-3, 7-5.

Girls Lacrosse: Marshwood 14 South Portland 1 SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Marshwood scored five goals in the opening five minutes en route to this Western Maine Class A victory. The Hawks improved to 3-0, while the Red Riots dropped to 1-2. Lindsey Poirier led Marshwood with five goals, while Korinne Bohunsky netted three. Brittany Bossi and Hannah Folger netted two apiece, while Hannah Costin and Reagan Nichols scored one each. “We had a lot of work to do, but every game we’ve improved,” Marshwood coach Bernie Marvin said. “This is just another step in our improvement. I think we’ll be a lot better by the end of the season.” Marshwood goalie Emily Kahler made five saves.
