BIDDEFORD, Maine — First-place Biddeford (12-2) won this matchup of Class A powers, scoring the winning run on a bases-loaded passed ball with two outs in the seventh inning. Zack Quintal took a tough-luck defeat on the mound, striking out 10 while scattering six hits and four walks. The Hawks (11-3) were limited to two hits, getting both from CJ Davis. Marshwood scored its lone run in the fourth inning when Noah McDaniel got down a sacrifice bunt and Jake Lebel followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring Zach Hodges from third.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — The game already in extra innings, the Hawks erased a 7-5 deficit in the bottom of the eighth, scoring three runs with two outs. The game-winning hit came from Meaghan Sandler, who beat out an infield single. The play occupied the first baseman long enough for Gianna Riccardi to score the walk-off run from second base. Both Sandler and Hailey Tarr finished with three hits apiece for the Hawks (5-9). Joelle Casey and Kaylah Abdul chipped in two hits apiece, and Emily Robida went the distance in the pitcher’s circle with six strikeouts for the win.

PORTLAND, Maine — The Hawks moved to 7-5 in Western Maine Class A with this setback at Portland (8-4). Marshwood played a pair of hard-fought, three-set matches in doubles. Top pair Darren LaPointe and Max Parker (5-7, 6-2, 4-6) and No. 2 pair Dan Longtin and Andrew Blunt (7-6, 1-6, 5-7) played well in defeat for the Hawks. GIRLS LACROSSE Thornton Academy 9 Marshwood 6 SACO, Maine — Lindsey Poirier scored five goals in defeat for the Hawks, who moved to 8-3 in Western Maine Class A. Hannah Costin also scored for Marshwood, and goalie Emily Kahler made five saves.
