Seacoast RoundupBy Staff Reports email@example.com June 08, 2014 2:00 AM Baseball Marshwood splits two at SMAAs BIDDEFORD, Maine — The Marshwood baseball team won its first game of the Southwestern Maine Athletic Association tournament, 10-3, over host Biddeford, but lost its second game, 7-3, to South Portland. Coach Eric Fernandes said the games, although part of an exhibition, were competitive and served as good tune-ups for the upcoming Class A playoffs. “It is an exhibition, but the teams all played with pride,” he said. Fernandes said Jake Lebel hit a big home run in the first game, and Zach Doyon had a two-run single. Zack Quintal and Noah McDaniel also hit the ball well.
Track and field Marshwood places three in Class A WINDHAM, Maine — Maddy Doyle and Jack Letellier each finished in the top five of their events for Marshwood at the Class A state meet. Doyle finished fourth in the 3,200-meter run in a time of 11:49.69, and Leah Dodier finished fifth in the high jump (5-2). Letellier placed fourth in the boys 1,600-meter run in 4:36.92.
