FALMOUTH, Maine — Emily Robida pitched a complete game in 11th-seeded Marshwood High School’s 8-3 upset victory over No. 6 Falmouth in the preliminary round of the Western Maine Class A softball tournament on Tuesday afternoon. Robida struck out four and walked four. She allowed one earned run and five hits.
Falmouth (10-7) led 2-1 entering the bottom of the fourth inning when the Hawks (6-11) scored four times. Gianna Riccardi drove in a run with a single, Kim Hussey added an RBI double and Joelle Casey had a run-scoring triple. Robida drove in another run on a fielder’s choice.
Riccardi added a two-run home run in the fourth. Casey and Meaghan Sandler also had two hits apiece for Marshwood, which totaled nine hits.
Marshwood visits No. 3 Cheverus (13-3) in Thursday’s regional quarterfinals.
