As you may know, for the past 2 years RSU 35 has been exploring the possibility of adjusting our school start times. It is a complicated issue with many pros and cons for all options considered.

As you may know, for the past 2 years RSU 35 has been exploring the possibility of adjusting our school start times. It is a complicated issue with many pros and cons for all options considered.

As a result of the exploratory committee’s work an update was shared with the school board in October, 2018. The Board and committee determined that there were two viable options of the three presented. The first option is to change nothing and leave our school schedules as they currently are. The second option is to put a somewhat later school start time into place. That would mean that all schools would start and end approximately 20 minutes later than they currently do.

The Board would like to engage our community in an additional conversation about these options so that they may make an informed decision on this complex issue. To that end, the Board is hosting two community discussions in the Learning Center at Marshwood High School. The purpose of these discussions is not to rehash all the pros and cons of the three options considered. Hundreds of parents, students and staff provided that information through the surveys conducted last year. The Board now seeks input on which of the two most viable options our community would prefer. Please join us for one or both of these discussions:
