Joe Long – Chair – Joe was elected to the Board of Directors in November 2013. He received his B.S. in Physics from Merrimack College in 1975, and his M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1992. He has worked in photovoltaics, computers, and networking, and most recently consumer electronics. He has also served as adjunct faculty at Fisher and Nichols colleges. He lives in South Berwick with his wife Jessica and their daughter Maeve, who attends Marshwood Great Works School (where Joe is known simply as “Maeve’s dad”).

Susan Berman – Vice-Chair – Susan was elected to the Board of Directors in June 2014. Sue received her BS in Hospitality Administration and MS in Exercise Science from UNH.  She worked extensively in the hotel, restaurant, and resort industry before joining the club industry as a fitness director.  She is also the owner of a studio pottery business, Riverside Pottery.  Sue and her husband Mark have 2 children currently in the Marshwood schools, and Sue also has 2 sons who graduated in 2003 and 2004.

Matthew Taylor – Matthew is a Regional Manager for EFCO Corp. where he designs and supplies steel forming and shoring equipment for civil and commercial projects throughout New England.  EFCO Corp. is a global leader in the concrete forming and shoring industry and is headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.  Matthew has worked in the Engineering field for 16 years following his studies at Northeastern University and continues to be engaged in sustainable development for infrastructure and facilities.  Matthew helps his clients seek cost-effective solutions for a versatile and high-quality finish at the foundation level.  Matthew is a father of four children including two sons ages 15 yrs. and 13 yrs. as well as two daughters ages 8 yrs. and 6 yrs.  Is an avid mountain biker, surfer, and volunteer in our community.  Matthew believes in sharing happiness, health, and wellness with his children, community, and personal friendships.

Lisa Flynn -Lisa was elected to the Board of Directors in November 2018. She is the owner of Yoga 4 Classrooms and is the author of several books supporting whole-child wellness. With a B.A. in Communication, Lisa has 20+ years of experience in marketing, business management, education consulting, and curriculum development. She’s a national presenter and youth mental health advocate whose work has been featured on Fox News and in publications such as Education WeekForbes, Greater Good, Yoga Journal, and Parents. Lisa enjoys volunteering which currently includes serving as MHS Ski Team Boosters Board President. She and her husband John have two children, Brooke (Class of ’19), and Jack (Class of ’21).

Jennifer Therrien –Jenn joined the Board in July 2020.  Jenn holds a BSN from UNH and has been a Registered Nurse for 18 years, currently working per diem in Labor and Delivery at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. She is passionate about caring for and empowering birthing people and families through their birth and postpartum experiences. Jenn is the secretary for The Marshwood Education Foundation (MEF) and recently spent two years doing set and costume design for the Marshwood Middle School theater program. She enjoys running, camping, and spending time outdoors with her family and friends. Jenn celebrates diversity and feels that as a community, we are strongest when we support and learn from each other. Jenn and her husband, Ross, live in Eliot and have two children in the district, Eva (class of 2023), and Sam (class of 2027).

Heather Holland- Elected to the Board of Directors in November 2020. Heather holds a B.S. in Family Studies, minor in Education, and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of New Hampshire. She is a certified teacher (K-8) in the state of NH with several years experience teaching 5th grade. She is well versed in elementary education, teacher mentoring, teacher evaluation, and higher education online learning teaching and student success. She was an Instructor, Field Placement Coordinator, and Advisor at Granite State College School of Education.  Currently, she is the Assistant Director of UNH Online Student Success at the University of New Hampshire. She has volunteered in Scouts, local sports, and parent groups throughout the years. She also serves on the South Berwick Recreation Committee. Heather enjoys traveling the world and learning about different cultures. She has traveled extensively to more than 18 different countries. Heather also enjoys skiing, field hockey, surfing, sailing, and reading. Heather moved to South Berwick in 2004 with her husband. She has three children who attend Marshwood schools.
