Chef Ned-Edwards Grieg led students, staff and volunteers as they prepared Primavera Noodle Bowl. Each student chopped, celery, bok choy, green onions, and peppers. These delicious fresh vegetables and Thai curry paste, garlic and ginger were added to homemade vegetable broth, coconut milk, and rice noodles. Then students, their teachers and volunteers were served this healthy meal in a bowl. This noodle bowl was new and different for many of Central School’s students and adults alike.
Chef Ned-Edward Grieg is part of the Chef’s Move to School program initiated by Michel Obama and introduced to Central School five years ago by local chef and author Kathy Gunst. Kathy has invited many chefs from local restaurants and bakeries to participate in this whole-school program at Central School.
Chef Ned has already cooked with each grade level once and plans to cook with each grade level before the end of the school year. Chefs Move to School is thriving at Central School because of community chefs like Kathy Gunst and Ned. Parent volunteers do so much to make this possible.
