Ryan Fife, a former Central School student and Marshwood graduate, got a warm welcome from his former teachers and other staff when he returned to Central School as a substitute teacher. On that same day, Phil Rowe, his grandfather was there working as a substitute teacher. Ryan’s mother, Lisa Fife, has been the full time Speech and Language specialist for six of the fourteen years she has worked in the Marshwood district.
Mr. Rowe has been a substitute teacher for nineteen years. The staff and children at Central know him well and are always happy when he’s working with them. Phil began his career in education with twelve years as a classroom teacher followed by eleven years as a principal. He is greeted with smiles and hugs each time he comes to Central School.
After graduating from Marshwood High School, Ryan attended Hobart and William Smith College. He spent a semester in Australia during his sophomore year. He is substitute teaching during his winter break. He’ll return to Hobart and William Smith College as a senior and will graduate this spring with a biology degree.
