FAMILY RESOURCES

Dear Families, As we continue our efforts to listen and learn I have come across a few more resources that might be helpful to your families. Here is an upcoming free webinar. “Talking to Kids about Racism”. The presenter, Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum is a clinical child psychologist and a nationally recognized authority on racial issues in America. Here is the link to register: https://caredotcom.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_6s10ZNEkSD-m6MgPU5gm8A Additionally, here is a link to CNN/Seasame Street Town Hall on racism in case you missed it. https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/06/app-news-section/cnn-sesame-street-race-town-hall-app-june-6-2020-app/index.html. You may find these conversations to be difficult and unnerving and you may want to turn the TV off and shelter those around you. However, students will become aware, at least in small parts, about what is happening in the world. Therefore, it is by engaging in these difficult but important conversations that you have the opportunity to help shape and guide how your students process the unrest and how they can move forward with knowledge and the capability of making a positive impact in the future themselves. Together, we can help instill the values for a generation to do their part in challenging this big problem. If you’d like more resources or support please don’t hesitate to reach out.
