It was an exceptional afternoon of geography! Two full hours of questions to test 22 students on their knowledge ranging from the United State to the World. The categories were new, including Weird but True, Team Turf and Pop Stars on Tour. The kids were sensational. Every single one of them! The competition was the longest ever due to the caliber of student knowledge. In the end– the Winners are: 1st place Cam Oberg – 5th grade. 2nd place- William Hersey- 4th grade and 3rd place- Cam Moon – 5th grade.
Geography Bee at MGWS!
Thank you to Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. Girouard for their help and to Mrs. Moloney for the excellent job she did in recruiting and encouraging these young geographers!! (oh and for the cupcakes!) And to Mr. Burnell for his annual support of this event. ****A geographer is a scholar whose area of study is geography, the study of Earth’s natural environment and human society. Although geographers are historically known as people who make maps, map making is actually the field of study of cartography, a subset of geography.
