The state requires all fifth and eighth graders to take the Science MEA (Maine Educational Assessment) in May. This science assessment consists of three , 30 minute subtests. MGWS will give the tests Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, May 12, 13, and 14. There will be one subtest each morning. If a student misses any of the tests, make-ups will be given Thursday and Friday, May 15 and 16.
Attendance is very important during these testing times, as is arriving to school on time. If a student misses any exam on a given day, he or she will have to make it up. Your child may have to miss a special to do a make-up test. If a student arrives too late, he or she may have to wait in the library or office until the testing session is over.
There are several ways you can help your child increase his or her test performance. Your child should get a goods night’s sleep, have a good breakfast each morning, and be at school on time. The state will return the results to the school sometime in the fall. When the results arrive at our school, they will be forwarded to parents.
If you have ay questions or concerns about the Science MEA, please feel free to contact Karla Kyle, School Counselor.
