Every year, about 15,000 children are diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a disease that drastically alters the lives of youth across America. Through the kick off and health lessons our students learned more about the effects of Type 1 Diabetes, as well as dispelling myths about the disease and the differences between Type 1 and Type 2. The Kids Walk also helps our students living with T1D overcome social barriers surrounding Type 1 Diabetes too, as their classmates come to better understand the illness.
Lastly – the fundraising efforts were amazing. Over $4,000 was raised for JDRF to put towards research and a cure. I hope you agree it was the perfect way to start the day today. It also sent a strong message of support and love to Miles and Esme. Kids helping kids- what can be better than that!
