GORHAM, Maine — The Marshwood High School girls 4×200 relay team captured a Class A state championship on Monday.Screen Shot 2019-02-22 at 8.09.31 AM

The team of Katherine Page, Carmie Kriz, Cici Perodin and Rori Coomey won the title with a time of 1 minute, 48.35 seconds, which was the state’s fastest time in that event this season.

The Hawks finished fifth overall as a team and just 3.5 points away from runner-up Thornton Academy (38.5). Cheverus was the class A champion with 72 points.

Page also finished third in both the 55-meter dash (7.47) and the 200 meters (26.93), achieving school records in each event. Coomey added a fourth-place finish in long jump (17-1) and a fifth-place finish in the 55 meters (7.55).

Marshwood’s 4×800 relay team of Sydney Page, Mackenzie Young, Ella Nelson and Liz Wentworth finished fourth in 10:27.59. Wentworth also finished sixth in the 1 mile (5:32.96).

Jared McCarthy was the lone Hawk on the podium for the boys team, finishing sixth in the triple jump (40-9.25).

Each aforementioned Marshwood athlete advanced to the New England Championships, which will be held on March 2 in Boston.
