SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Noelle Barrett scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds, and the Hawks (7-1) won a physical game with Class AA Sanford (3-5).

“Very intense game,” MHS coach Steve Freeman said. “Both teams played very hard.”

Marshwood had multiple girls rise to the challenge, including Lauren Cusson, who posted a career-high 10 points while adding nine rebounds and four steals. Celine Lawrence filled the state sheet with 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

The Hawks will now face Class A South rival Kennebunk on Monday at 5 p.m. to avoid potential weather-related conflicts on Tuesday night.
