Sports shorts: Girls Basketball Marshwood 50 South Portland 68

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — The Marshwood High School girls basketball team trailed by just two points at halftime at South Portland, but the Red Riots gradually pulled away to win the Western Maine Class A tilt Monday afternoon, 68-50.

Megan McLean led the Hawks (7-6) with nine points, four assists and three steals. Lydia St. Pierre added eight points and four assists, while Kat Locke had eight points and seven boards. Hanna Philbrick chipped in with eight rebounds.

Marshwood girls drop to 7-6
