MARSHWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL AND CENTRAL SCHOOL TO BEGIN A NEW WRITING PROJECT
To introduce the program third grade and eighth grade teachers explain:
“We believe that working collaboratively helps to establish a community within our district. Whenever possible, we want our writers to write for a real-life audience.
Narrative writing is part of both the 8th grade and 3rd grade curriculum. By working together, we not only address our curricular standards but provide an authentic experience for our students. The 8th graders will be constructing a narrative about a 3rd grade student based on details provided through a questionnaire. Students will be able to view the final product.
We hope that this will foster a bond that will provide mentorship, cooperation, and reflection. This also provides an opportunity for students to view writing as a process. We look forward to watching our students grow together.”
