Marshwood Middle School’s 17th annual Veterans Day Celebration

On November 3, 2017, Marshwood Middle School will host their 17th annual Veterans Day Celebration.  The school wide assembly, which starts at 9:00 a.m., features various tributes from our students to our local veterans.  Most of the veterans are parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and  friends of our students.  Local first responders and various dignitaries including state representatives, local politicians and school board members attend our celebration to honor our veterans.  Last year, we had over 400 guests in attendance.

All guests form a reception line at 8:30 a.m. and then every student passes through the line shaking hands and welcoming our guests.  The reception line emphasizes a personal touch for every student to come in contact with our guests.

After everyone gathers in the gym, the Eliot Police Honor Guard posts the Colors and for the next hour several tributes are presented from the students to our veterans in musical selections, video presentations and readings.

After the assembly, we host an amazing luncheon (we even have the authentic SOS!) in our cafeteria where the students serve our veterans and dine with them.  Following our luncheon, we invite veterans to stay and share their stories with our eighth graders in the classrooms.

We hope you are able to attend our special day to honor those who serve.
