Marshwood Middle School Grade 7/8 Band just returned from their annual performance at the Scarborough Concert Band Festival. Band Director, David Miller, said his students performed extremely well. They earned an average score of 95.3 from their three judges. This level of performance earned them a “gold” rating. Miller believes this is the highest average score they have been awarded in almost 20 years of attending this festival. Needless to say, his students are very excited.
This year in addition to performing prepared pieces, they were also required to sight-read a piece as part of their final score and they received a critique from one of the three judges.
“We certainly have a lot of them to celebrate here at Marshwood,” said Miller. He expressed his appreciation to his colleagues at Marshwood Middle School and Great Works School who have always supported him and the students who are involved in the instrumental music program.
