Reading buddies share a love of reading as the kindergarteners from Mrs. Clark’s class get together weekly with the third graders in Mrs. Zottoli-Breen’s class!
Some of the kindergarten activities between the partnerships may be practicing oral storytelling with the characters and settings of familiar fairy tales (such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears), reading our ever-growing word bank of snap word cards, sharing our culminating science projects about bats and penguins, and reading our expanding collection of decodable and leveled texts. The third graders are able to practice mentorship skills. This is a great motivation for us kinders to show off our budding reading skills and give the third graders practice modeling more fluent reading!
