International Day of Peace

In today’s world, we need peace more than ever.

On Wednesday, September 20th, Central School students celebrated the International Day of Peace by taking part in this important project. During the first two weeks of school, during library, music, and art, Central students have been reading books, singing, and making art about peace. We have been discussing what peace means to us, our school, and our community.

To celebrate the International Day of Peace, we as a school sang, walked in a peace parade, and waved to community members/onlookers, both driving and on foot. The International Day of Peace provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date. In 2002, the United Nations General Assembly officially declared September 21 as that date and we enjoy celebrating it each year here at Central School.
