The second graders went on a field trip to the Seacoast Science Center where they were introduced to the diverse and dynamic rocky shore habitats .The program began with a lesson on the unique ecology of the rocky shore intertidal zones, followed by a tide pooling session. Students learned how to best observe, identify, and classify organisms through guided exploration. They also spent time inside the center exploring the touch tanks where they saw a variety intertidal animals and seaweeds .At the Restoring the Reefs exhibit, the students learned how reefs, both near and far, are important living systems in need of protection. A HUGE thank you to the Central School PTO for sponsoring this trip!
