Dear Marshwood Community,
The Marshwood Hall of Fame and Excellence is seeking community input on a request to name the Jerry Burnell Great Works School gymnasium in honor of longtime coach and community member Bob “Bear” Fontaine.
Fontaine has been involved in the Marshwood community for many years, including service as a basketball coach, founder of the Youth Girls Weekend Hoop programs, and member of the Southwestern Maine Board of Football Officials. He was also inducted into the Marshwood Hall of Fame & Excellence in recognition of his athletic career and service to the district.
Under district policy, the Marshwood Hall of Fame Committee reviews facility-naming requests, gathers community input and then forwards its recommendation to the MSAD 35 School Board for consideration.
Students, families, staff, alumni and community members are invited to share comments regarding the proposed naming.
