International Day of PEACE

In today’s world, we need peace more than ever. On September 21st, Central School students celebrated the International Day of Peace by taking part in an international art and literacy project, “Flags for Peace.”

During the first two weeks of school, students read books and sang songs about peace, and created their own individual mini flags. As part of the creative process, students brainstormed, discussed, and wrote their peaceful thoughts on paper. Each artist designed and colored a flag to visually express their thoughts of peace. On the 21st of September, a parade of children "planted" their flags on the front lawn of Central School as a public statement, art installation, and fun celebration!
