Good News from Marshwood Great Works School Solar Sprint on Saturday, June 3rd in Bridgton, Maine
Author Christopher Winchester, M.S.Ed.
Fifth-grade students from MGWS attended this year's Solar Sprint on Saturday, June 3rd in Bridgton, Maine. The event was located in the parking lot at the Magic Lantern Theater. Mr. Winchester and Mr. Pollock were the faculty representatives for Marshwood.
According to the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, "The Solar Sprint is a fun, interactive way to teach the principles of renewable energy and the engineering design process; as students create solar-powered model cars.”
Students' solar cars were judged on kids' choice, creative use of recycled materials, innovation, and technical merit. Several schools participated as well as home school students.
