This Friday the 5th grade had there yearly solar car race day!
Students have been working very hard to design, build, and test their cars. Students had to find and bring in items from home that they had - no store bought parts or pieces were allowed. In class students worked to create a car designed entirely to move with solar power.

Students solar cars were put through inspections before race day as well as judging for the favorite car voted on by students.

Race day arrived and everyone spent the day watching and racing in heat races with a double elimination until the field was whittled down and we had the semi finalist. After a break for some lunch and running off some much needed energy the school gathered to watch the semi finalists face off before we were down to just the finalists race.

The day wrapped up with our awards ceremony with the categories of:
4 c's - creativity, innovation, craftsmanship, technical merit, recycled materials, kids choice, and speed.
A huge congratulations to all students.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped put on this event, all of our wonderful volunteers without you all this simply could not happen!
