Marshwood Great Works School students got to touch the Stanley Cup and hear about dreaming big when former student Mike Brown returned to the school on September 8.
Brown, who works for the Carolina Hurricanes, brought the NHL’s championship trophy to the school gym, where he spoke with students about the importance of being a good teammate.
Students gathered around the Cup, examining the names engraved on its silver bands and posing for photos. The visit gave them a chance to meet someone whose path to professional hockey began in their own school community.
“Having Mike come back to Great Works gave our students a chance to imagine where their own interests might take them,” said Principal Sara Allis. “We’re grateful he shared this experience and reminded them to dream big and that being a good teammate matters.”
