On Friday, February 3, MGWS was able to take a field trip to the Merrill Auditorium in Portland. This field trip was made possible by our Winterfest fundraiser from last year. Every student and teacher was able to go!
Students have been learning about Native American history and culture and this was the perfect opportunity to tie into our learning.
Many stories were told by different tribes that are here in Maine. The Passamaquoddy Tribe, Tobique Tribe, Mi’kmaq Nation, and Penobscot Nation, to name a few.
Favorites among the students was an old folklore that told of The Cheeno that haunts the winter woods. DJ Firefly was amazing, mixing the music of his ancestors with contemporary sounds. The auditorium was lit up with lights and amazing sounds.
It was a wonderful experience for all that attended!
