SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Eva Hersey scored a team-high six goals, and had two assists as the Marshwood High School girls lacrosse team beat Cape Elizabeth, 17-7 on Monday in a Class A contest.
Hersey, who was named Monday's Seacoast Standout, and the Hawks improved to 4-0 on the season.
Marshwood head coach Bernie Marvin counts on Hersey to be a scorer and a playmaker to balance out the team's scoring prowess.
"(And also) be a force on the ride and be very involved in the transition up the field," Marvin said. "Eva is performing all of these tasks at a super high level, as well as being a solid teammate and captain."
Hersey has 11 goals and eight assists this season, and Marvin says Hersey is getting more confident by the second.
Last year Hersey scored 22 goals and was a Southern Maine Activities Association Class A honorable mention selection.
"Everyone on the team has each other's backs," Hersey said. "It creates an environment of trust and teamwork that really elevates our level of play."
