Marshwood High School has been ranked No. 11 among Maine public high schools in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-27 Best High Schools rankings.
Assistant Superintendent Heidi Early-Hersey shared the recognition with the MSAD 35 Board of Directors during its Aug. 19 meeting. Marshwood also ranked within the top 40% of public high schools nationally, qualifying for recognition as a U.S. News Best High School.
“Rankings offer only one measure of a school, but this recognition reflects years of work by Marshwood High School’s students, educators, staff and families,” Superintendent Caroline Arakelian said. “I am grateful to join a district with such a strong foundation, and I look forward to helping our schools continue building on that success.”
U.S. News evaluated nearly 18,000 public high schools nationwide using data related to college readiness, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college-level coursework and graduation rates. The recognition reflects the continued work of Marshwood students, educators, staff members and families.
“The commitment our students bring to their education and the work our educators do each day to support and challenge them earned this recognition,” Marshwood High School Principal Richard Gowers said. “We are proud of the ranking, but even more proud of the work and the relationships behind it.”
