How To Create a Kind, Loving, and Safe Environment

  • Be an ally (look at the last GSA newsletter for more information on being an ally.)

  • Stop rude behavior

  • Encourage acts of kindness

  • Be fair to all

OVERALL IDEA:

We need to be an ally, stop rude behavior, encourage acts of kindness, and be fair to all in our school. Stopping rude behavior might look like abolishing bullying. Encouraging acts of kindness would be like helping each other pick something up, giving someone a pencil, or even holding open a door. Be fair to all as well. So, include everyone. Not just your best friend. Think about everyone else, too! This way everyone can feel supported and have a learning environment everyone can trust. It can really help to have students feel comfortable around their peers and to have a place they look forward to coming to everyday.

How Can We Achieve This?

We can achieve this goal by starting with these few basic steps. The most that we can do as a school is to be kind to one another. If that means setting an example of giving out one compliment a day, that works. But, if you want to do  something a little bit more challenging like helping five people do a math problem, go for it! By creating a safe, kind, and loving environment, we can make our school a place that is not only a great place to be but also a place where people look forward to being. Something so simple of a concept, like being kind, can have a much bigger impact than ever imagined.
