This month we are celebrating Mental Health Awareness. Our school counselors, Sarah Camp and Kathleen Ring, have partnered with Minding Your Mind from Newtonville, MA and have been hard at work planning school wide activities to engage our students in a discussion around the importance of wellness for our minds and for our bodies. The goal is to end the stigma around mental health, to remind us all that it’s okay to not be okay, and to reinforce that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood.
This week we had a virtual visit from a guest speaker we met last year- Wes from Minding Your Mind! The seventh and eighth grade students were thrilled to see him again and remembered his message.
Minding Your Mind’s main objective is to provide mental health education to adolescents, teens and young adults, their parents, and teachers. Their goal is to reduce the stigma (negative, unfair beliefs) and destructive behaviors often associated with mental health issues. We are looking forward to a new speaker, Sarika, from Minding Your Mind on Monday, 5/6/24!
