October at MMS wasn’t just filled with ghosts and goblins — it was scary busy in the very best way! Our halls were buzzing with energy, learning, community spirit, and plenty of festive fun.
🫙 Bottle Drive Success
We kicked off our first ever school-wide bottle drive, and our Hawks showed up big! Thank you to all of the families and community members who donated —we raised $347. Ms Eisner's 6th grade Advisory collected the most bags and earned a pizza party. Families can continue to support MMS by picking up Clynk bags in the office and dropping them off at your local participating Hannaford.
⚖️ Core Value Focus: Fairness
Throughout October, students explored our core value of Fairness. From classroom discussions and advisory activities to real-world examples in our school community, MMS students practiced what it means to be fair, kind, and thoughtful members of our school family. Congratulations to our Fairness Hawk Pride Winners-Logan Mountain, Isla Sloan, Nolan Howe, Liam Murphy, Nora Burke, Sam Zinser, Jackson Leah, Chelsea Strangas and Mason Holton.
🚌 Field Trips Take Flight
All grade levels took learning beyond the classroom this month! Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders each traveled to unique learning experiences that sparked curiosity, strengthened teamwork, and created memories. Sixth graders traveled to the Maine Military Museum in Portland,Maine. Seventh graders adventured through Vaughn Woods, a local treasure and Eigth graders traveled to Musical Hall in Portsmouth to see a play In to America to learn more about the American immigration experience from Jamestown to present day. There's nothing like seeing learning come alive out in the world!
🎃 Halloween Bash
We wrapped up the month with our Halloween Bash, and it was a frightfully good time! Costumes, music, games, and laughter filled the building as students celebrated with friends and staff. Huge thank-you to everyone who helped plan, donate, decorate, chaperone, and bring the spooky fun to life!
