Wellness Day

On May 7, Marshwood Middle School students and staff came together for our annual Wellness Summit, a day dedicated to promoting physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Centered around the theme "Healthy Minds. Healthy Lives.", the event provided students with opportunities to learn, connect, move, and have fun while exploring the many dimensions of wellness.

The day began with a powerful keynote presentation from Eliot Police Chief Moya, who shared valuable insights about resilience, mental health, community, and the importance of asking for help when needed. Chief Moya's message encouraged students to recognize their strengths, support one another, and understand that seeking help is a sign of courage.

Following the keynote, students participated in a variety of interactive workshops led by community partners, educators, and local organizations. Sessions focused on topics such as mindfulness, physical fitness, healthy relationships, stress management, creativity, teamwork, and personal growth. These experiences gave students practical tools and strategies they can use both in and out of school.

The afternoon concluded with an all-school Field Day, where students enjoyed outdoor games, team-building activities, and a bounce house while celebrating the importance of movement, fun, and positive social connections.

Events like the Wellness Summit reflect Marshwood Middle School's commitment to educating the whole student. By creating opportunities for students to learn about wellness in engaging and meaningful ways, we help them build the habits needed to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

A special thank you goes out to Eliot Police Department, the Growing Hawks PTO, our staff, presenters, volunteers, and Choose to be Healthy who helped make this day such a success. Together, we created a memorable experience that reinforced an important message: taking care of ourselves and one another is essential to living healthy, successful lives.
