Meet Paul Slovenski : MMS Educational Technician

Where did you grow up and attend school?

* I grew up next door to the magical campus of Bates College where both my parents were employed in Lewiston, Maine while I attended miraculous educational places (Pettingill Elementary School, Lewiston Junior High School & Lewiston High School).

I spent an additional post-graduate year of high school in Lee, Massachusetts at (THE Berkshire School) because I didn’t ever want to leave high school life.

Where did you attend college?

*I went on to study at my hometown institution (Bates College) for the Bachelor's degree in English and then continued at (Boston University) of Boston, Massachusetts for a Masters's degree in physical education because I never wanted to leave university/college life.

Why did you want to become a teacher?

*I needed to stay around school athletic environments keeping involved with their thrilling atmospheres of sports competition and/or exciting Phys. ed. participation. Another reason is my favorite class: “GYM” (evidenced by the straight A+ grades) during my own schooling which led me into a lifetime of PE course instruction. Surely influenced by growing up playing at Bates’ fieldhouse.

Was there a particular person in your life that impacted your career choice or was your role model?

*My mother (school nurse) who I can’t touch the gentleness of from a being kind and nice standpoint while my father (career coach of cross-country and track) showed me the way to be a relatively successful contributing sports coach for 35 years which overlapped an enlightening athletic director profession for 15 years.

Why do you like teaching or working with kids?

*Selfishly I get feelings of accomplishment when children I instruct achieve more. I conscientiously must always be happy knowing I attempted 100% to give it my all for trying to make positive differences in kids’ learning experiences. I think an aide’s primo mission be to help assist pupils with reaching their utmost goal potential as mighty wicked fine students.

What are some things you enjoy when not in school?

*Coaching youth track and field or volleyball or basketball or soccer, plus teaching basic fundamentals of swimming or ice skating or springboard diving to youngsters.

What are other hobbies or interests?

*Windsurfing, sailing, ultimate frisbee, soccer, waterskiing, snow skiing, guitar playing complete with harmonica and tambourine ala decently tolerable “one-man band.”

Tell us about your family life:

*I have three daughters named Sophie Glory, Phoebe Victory, Chloe Ruth Triumph (aged 22/19/16), one wife Trenna, and one Papillon puppy dog called Alphalfa (forever young at 6). Dearly departed grandparents Ruth and Walter repeatedly provide multiple smile-inducing fond fun-loving memories.
