~For Immediate Release Friday May 12th, 2023~
The Marshwood School Athletic Department is excited to announce the appointment of Molly Humiston as the new Head Varsity Field Hockey coach at Marshwood. Molly, a former Division II field hockey player at Saint Michael’s College ‘21, has been a member of the Marshwood Field Hockey Coaching staff for the previous two seasons and is excited to return as Head Coach this Fall. As a Purple Knight at SMC, Molly garnered several defensive saves and a goal as a reserve player her first two seasons and a starting player her final season. Throughout her collegiate career, she garnered NE10 and NFHCA academic honors all four years and earned membership into the Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma.
Humiston grew up in Kittery, ME and was a three-sport varsity athlete at R.W. Traip Academy. As a Ranger she was a starting member of the field hockey team, leading it to playoffs her senior year as captain. She was selected to the Western Maine All-Conference Team three times and once to the All-Academic team.
Returning to the club as a coach post-college, Molly is also a member of the Seacoast Field Hockey Club coaching staff in Hampton, NH. She has worked with U16 and U19 teams throughout the Winter and Spring seasons for the past two years, as well as, running weekly skill sessions in the off seasons. She is also a member of USA Field Hockey and has a Level One Coaching Certification.
Over two seasons, Molly has supported Marshwood Field Hockey as the Junior Varsity Coach and, most recently, the Assistant Varsity Coach. She has helped develop JV players into starting members of the Varsity team and has supported the team into the post-season twice. Molly also helped guide the program to a Southern Maine Sportsmanship Award in the 2022 season. She is eager to kick off the 2023 season and lead the program through another successful fall.
In her professional life, Molly is an Events Assistant at the International Association of Privacy Professionals. At IAPP, Molly works with two event components: audio visual and production, and registrations. She has worked at IAPP for the past year. In her spare time, Molly remains committed to the sport of field hockey and plays in a local adult league.
“We are extremely lucky to have Molly as part of our Athletic Department staff and I am really excited for our kids in the program to grow and excel under her leadership!” Rich Buzzell, AD

Marshwood Girls Tennis had a tough 5-0 loss to Windham but a gritty battle by Sophomore Lucy Parker had everyone on the edge of their seats, Lucy regained her bearings after a tough first set, to tie it up with a punishing second set win 7-5, and was narrowly outlasted in a third set tiebreaker. Congrats to Lucy on a well-played match against a seasoned senior.
