Good News from Eliot Elementary School Similarity Awareness at Eliot Elementary The students of EES recently had the opportunity to engage in activities centered around similarity awareness. Each class participated in a program where they learned about adaptive sports and the Paralympics. They had some game time in sport wheelchairs and discussed what is similar and different about participating in activities in and out of a wheelchair. Our art teacher, Ms. Chamberlain, organized a visit from an illustrator named Gina Perry. Ms. Perry works on books about a character named Aven Green. Aven is a third grader who was born without arms but feels that all of the cells that were supposed to make her arms went to her super-powered brain instead. Finally, some of the third graders made a video for the book Not So Different. They shared their video with the other grade levels to help them better understand similarity awareness. To listen to EES students read Not So Different go to https://youtu.be/m5WFQEu5Tmw
