Members of the Marshwood Community, It is incredible how time moves so quickly. I have been told many times that the days are long but the years move fast. This notion hit me right between the eyes last Wednesday morning, as I was provided the wonderful opportunity to meet with five exemplary students attending the Sanford Regional Technical Center to hear about their experiences over the past school year. I want to thank Coop, Chloe, Sarah, Ashley, and Sam for the incredible experience. I so enjoyed hearing about each of your journeys and your post-high school plans. It was also an important opportunity for me to hear directly from students about how we can better support individuals enrolled at both Marshwood High School and Sanford Regional Technical Center. What also struck me was how time gets away from us all. It always brings me joy to see young people preparing to leave Marshwood High School to begin their adult lives after high school. Each of them confidently shared their thoughts and aspirations. One of the students happened to be a bat boy on a youth baseball team I had coached when he was six years old; I was amazed by the growth of that little boy, and his transformation into a confident, young adult. Where does the time go?! In an interesting opportunity for perspective, I had the pleasure of experiencing the kindergarten concert earlier this week at Central School. Kate Smith was masterful in orchestrating 80 young learners. The students showed their love of learning with an enthusiastic performance & I particularly enjoyed their rendition of “This Little Light of Mine”, finger lights and all. This opportunity to be impacted by some of our youngest learners, and then by those that are beginning to reflect on their time at Marshwood, solidified the importance of every student’s journey, the importance of feeling part of a learning community, and the importance of differentiating and creating engaging learning environments for all students. These same lessons benefit adults and children alike, every day. I’m sure many parents are feeling similar sentiments as Marshwood High School’s graduation approaches. Watching children who went from infants to being obsessed with Blue’s Clues and Polly Pockets, to attending their first Middle School dance, to young adults prepared to create their own stories, generates so many feelings. Spring is always a great time to reflect and celebrate growth. I also want to share a new resource for families. We have created a family resource page (Hawk Hub) located here. (https://sites.google.com/rsu35.org/marshwoodparentpage...) This web page is a dedicated parent website for important resources and general information. At times, the District is asked to share information that may be helpful for parents, but that is not directly school-related; that type of important information will be located on this site. The resource page will evolve over time and we hope it is helpful for everyone. If you are looking to learn more about managing smartphones and social media for younger children, we have a link to the Wait Until 8th website. If you are looking to learn about community youth activities, you can find useful links there as well. In addition, here are some important dates as the school year begins to wind down: May 17, 2023 is the District 2023-2024 School Budget Meeting. May 25, 2023 is the last Late Start / Early Release day. The three remaining Thursdays will be the length of a typical Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday. June 8, 2023 Walk the Halls- our seniors will be visiting our elementary schools to say farewell to their former educators. June 9, 2023 - Marshwood High School Graduation June 13, 2023 - District Budget Validation Referendum 8am - 8pm at either Marshwood Middle School for our Eliot families or South Berwick Town Hall for our South Berwick families. June 16, 2023 - Last day of school. The last day is a half day. August 30, 2023 - First student day of the 2023-2024 School Year. Thank you all for your continued support. Every day of the school year it is my priority to be in each of our schools to connect, observe and support our students and staff. It is my honor to be a small part of your children’s lives. To those parents of Seniors: you are in my thoughts and in my heart. Enjoy every moment! In partnership, John Caverly

Marsh vs Windham
From Coach Rafferty: Today Marshwood High School boys tennis took on a tough competitor in Thornton Academy. Thornton's elite swept the young MHS boys side in singles play. Alex Rafferty and Ethan Waddell put up a gritty fight for first doubles but came out on the losing end. Second doubles Fisher Drisko and Parker Dixon fought hard against the strong opponent but lost 0-6, 0-6. This young team is strong, resilient and will continue to move forward in a positive direction.
