Extended Learning Opportunities
The ELO Program has partnered with Third Thought-Initiatives for Civic Engagement from Waynflete School in Portland to participate in the Can We Project. This student generated project engages high school students in dialogue across differences. Student involvement includes workshops on civil discourse, Mock Election Day-when students spend a day at the State House working in legislative groups, participation in a statewide student led conference on current events in Augusta as well as an invitation to the Youth Identity Summit in April.
Currently eleven MHS students are committed to this work and are participating in all events. Our students have been wonderful and are sharing their perspectives, listening to others and making valuable connections with peers.
This opportunity is open to any student, any grade at any time during the year. Interested students should contact ELO Coordinator Mr Scully.

Let's vote for Marshwood's Riley Smith

The Integrated Studies team had a fabulous trip to the Museum of Fine Arts on Wednesday. The primary focus was the Ancient Egypt exhibit to cap off our unit that included mummifying apples, decoding and writing messages in hieroglyphics, making papyrus paper, and researching Egyptian gods and goddesses and other aspects of Ancient Egyptian culture.
The trip today also allowed us to practice navigating through public spaces, accessing resources for information, menu math, and shopping skills. In addition to the Ancient Egypt exhibit, the students chose to explore Ancient Greece and Rome, as well as European and American Art.
Thank you as always to our outstanding Ed Techs and to all of you for your support of our students and program.

The freshmen have taken on the theme of service for the year and have successfully completed their first service project. Each advisory was given a basket which they were tasked to fill with items to donate to the South Berwick Food Pantry. This morning, I was able to deliver the baskets and the recipients were very appreciative. If you have any freshmen, please congratulate them on a job well done.
Quote from the service director at the South Berwick Food Pantry, "Thank you for instilling the importance of empathy and caring for others with the student community".
