Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Trades Apprenticeship Hiring Events!
It is with great excitement that I share the flyer for our upcoming trades
apprenticeship hiring events! They will be held at the Great Bay Community
College (GBCC) Pease campus in Portsmouth NH, with the first being on
Saturday January 21 from 10am to 3pm. While these events are open to the
public, they were planned with the graduating senior in mind. The
anticipated start date for this apprentice class will be June 2023.
The Accuplacer pre-employment placement test is required as part of the
application process, and they will be available on a first-come basis at
both events; testing will be held at 10a, 12p, and 2p, and can be expected
to take about 2 hours. It can also be scheduled with GBCC and York County
Community College outside these event times, as long as the passing
certificate of completion is submitted to PNS by February 28.
Any candidate interested in applying to apprenticeship can attend either
event with their detailed resume in-hand for an on the spot interview. Our
starting rate of pay for apprenticeship is $21.34/hr, and with regular pay
increases over the course of their training, graduates will be making
between $27.90 and $30.76/hr, depending on trade selected. Additionally, NO
EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY to apply! Trades apprenticeship is a great way to
start a career in a skilled hands-on trade.
