HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.
IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.
#IWD2022 #BreakTheBias
The 2022 International Women’s Day organizers have some missions for us all: Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.
There is definitely still bias that needs breaking. Recent research shows bias against women to be alive and well, even in environments where women are themselves the majority.
There’s also good reason to believe women can clear this hurdle, as they have so many others. To list just a few examples:
The percentage of US chemists, CEOs, and mathematicians who are female increased from 2000 to 2019.
The number of women business owners is on the rise.
The number of women across the globe seeking education is growing.

Admission is $2 for students and donation based for parents. We hope to see you there!

The Special Olympics Maine will be holding the York County Track and Field Games on Thursday, May 19th with a rain date of Friday, May 20th at Noble High School. For the 18th year (the last time was in 2019), we will be bringing a district team from Marshwood to compete in this event. Thank you to all of the district special educators and administrators for your support and assistance with making this happen for our athletes. Update on Masks on Buses
March 4, 2022
Good Afternoon,
I am reaching out on this sunny Friday afternoon to share some encouraging COVID 19 news. Beginning on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, the MSAD 35 Transportation Department will move to a mask optional/recommended for all MSAD 35 buses/vehicles. This change is consistent with both the Federal and Maine Centers for Disease Control recommendations. When the original mask mandate was put into place for our school buses, it was done so by the Federal Government. Fortunately due to the current conditions in York County, we can now make this change. All other safety protocols will remain in place on District vehicles with the exception of the requirement that students and staff members wear masks which will now be optional.
I do want to be clear that if a student or staff member returns to school after being COVID positive, on days 6 through 10 they will be required to wear a mask on district vehicles. I will continue to offer families a choice of taking excused absences in the event that you are not comfortable having your child return to school and having to mask and socially distance from their peers on days 6 through 10.
In addition, with the reduction in daily cases, the district will end daily communication regarding cases on Tuesday, March 8th, 2022. Cases will be updated daily on our COVID Dashboard, located on the MSAD 35 website.
Again, thank you for all of the support from the community.
Respectfully,
John Caverly
Superintendent of Schools
